What changed, and when.

Version numbers here are the ones the application reports in Settings, under About. A release lands when a piece of work is finished rather than on a calendar, so some versions are a day apart and some are a fortnight.

  1. 0.9.1

    The tape moves to the top, and history can be kept without a limit

    • The tape runs under the tabs. It used to sit inside the findings drawer, which meant the one surface that volunteers anything only spoke to people who had already gone looking. It is green for a move up and red for a move down, it pauses when the pointer approaches, and clicking a headline opens it onto the readings behind it.
    • Headlines are ranked by how unusual they were, not by how recently they happened. The most striking one on the tape is marked. Unattributed moves and breakouts both have to clear a higher bar than before, so a quiet range reports nothing rather than padding.
    • Storage can be set to no limit. Nothing is ever dropped and the file grows until the disk stops it. It says so again every ten gigabytes.
    • Changing the storage limit explains itself. Choosing a smaller one than the store already holds now says how many bytes and how many days it will delete, and waits for an answer.
    • Six colour themes for the window: Terminal, Obsidian, Graphite, Nocturne, Ember and Arctic. Part of Pro. Every one is dark and every one keeps green up and red down.
    • Reporting a problem no longer needs an account. The application still builds the diagnostic report for you and still uploads it privately. Afterwards it opens the support page on this site carrying your report code, instead of a public issue tracker.
    • Capture is described in ticks and hertz throughout: tick rate, data points per tick, idle tick rate.
  2. 0.9.0

    An assistant that has to measure before it answers

    • Bring your own model. OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Ollama, LM Studio, Foundry Local or anything that speaks the same protocol. No key ships with the application and none is ever sent anywhere but to the provider you chose.
    • Twenty tools. Sixteen only read. The four that change something change what is on screen and stop there.
    • SystemChart is a Model Context Protocol server, so the assistant you already pay for can read this machine. Settings writes the configuration block for Claude Desktop or VS Code with the real path in it.
    • New measurements behind the tools: correlation with lag, linear regression, change point detection and a plain text brief of any window.
    • Analysis tools refuse to answer a window they have too few readings for, instead of returning zeros that read as perfect steadiness.
    • The window no longer stops acting on instructions while it is covered by another application.
  3. 0.8.0

    Support reports, crash recovery, and the runtime in the package

    • Diagnostic reports are built and uploaded only after you agree, and carry logs and machine capabilities. Your readings never go in.
    • A separate reporter application can send one even when the main window will not start.
    • An unclean exit is noticed on the next launch and offers to report it.
    • The WebView2 runtime now ships in the package, so a clean machine installs without a download.
  4. 0.7.0

    The overview becomes a market

    • One full width chart of the hardware market, with the processor anchored and every other part an overlay you can add or drop.
    • Findings arrive as market headlines carrying the captured evidence that produced them.
    • A capture page of its own: what is arriving, what is held, and what the recorder costs.
    • Clicking a line locks it and opens a dossier on the hardware behind it.
    • Operating zones are drawn automatically, and shade only where a reading actually left them.
  5. 0.6.0

    More ways to draw a signal

    • Candles, ribbons, distributions, ranked screeners and heat strips.
    • An on screen frame counter that is a separate window rather than an injected hook.
    • Volumes and battery added to what is captured.
    • What changed: driver, BIOS and operating system updates joined to what moved across them.
  6. 0.5.0

    One second everywhere

    • Nothing is ever coarsened. A second from last March is the same second it was the day it was captured. The old retention model, which thinned readings as they aged, is gone.
    • Readings pack down to about 2.8 bytes each, which is what makes keeping all of them affordable.
    • A year of history answers in about a tenth of a second.
    • Capture can be paused without stopping the application.

Versions before 0.5.0 were not released. They are left out rather than written up from memory.
